Mobile-phone growth potential in Africa: UN

A United Nations telecommunications agency said yesterday that Mobile-phone companies will boost their investment in infrastructure and operations in Africa by 57 percent over the next five years.
Hamadoun Toure, secretary general of the International Telecommunication Union, said investment in this sector would reach 55 billion dollars. MTN , Vodacom France Telecom, SA's Orange unit and Zain, Kuwait's largest mobile-phone company, are among the companies planning to expand or enhance their networks in sub-Saharan Africa, according to the UN agency.
