SAICA accredited
Tue, 01 Jul 2008
The Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors has granted the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) full accreditation, it said in a statement on Monday. "It is the first accreditation of a professional body by the IRBA under its new accreditation model which is provided for under the Auditing Profession Act of 2005," the IRBA said in a statement. "Previously, the IRBA recognised SAICA's programmes in terms of the Public Accountants' and Auditors' Act, 1991." The accreditation was effective from April 2008. "As an accredited institution, SAICA will now be subject to ongoing monitoring by the IRBA, which allows the professional body and the IRBA the opportunity to co-operate with a view to seeking improvements in the profession."MORE SA HEADLINES
