Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the key issues affecting African business and markets (especially those in South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria)
• Thorough knowledge of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange
• Have a comprehensive repertoire of contacts throughout the continent
• Make sound editorial judgment calls in the Gallery.
• Contribute to daily/weekly editorial meetings and plan
• Be able to generate editorial content on a daily basis (write and sub-edit stories for broadcast)
• Coordinate a core team to produce the programs from conceptualization to transmission
• Be capable of setting the news agenda by generating original content for CNBC Africa
• Ensure that the program complies with CNBC Africa’s editorial and broadcast standards and policies.
• Be familiar with the latest happenings and business news in the region and the world.
• Be able to drive editorial policy and direction throughout a three hour broadcast period (06:00 to 07:00 and 08:00 to 10:00 daily)
• Demonstrate decisive and unwavering leadership and be able to co-ordinate a team of producers and content providers
• Carry out any other work as deemed necessary from time to time by the Director Programming
• Be able to present on air should it be required


Skill and Experience Requirements
• Relevant Qualification in Markets, Business or Journalism
• Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in handling similar functions in the television broadcasting industry and other media.
• Understanding of the markets and business.
• Excellent writing and communication, skills.
• Team player
