The role of the Senior Producer Markets is to plan, develop, and oversee at least two daily markets shows, paying close attention to content and content delivery.

The principal responsibilities of the Senior Producer Markets are to:

Work in close cooperation with Executive Producers, Chief Editor and Head of Programming

Attend daily editorial meetings and drive content for shows

Write and sub stories and scripts

Lead a small team of producers and assistant producers to achieve the editorial objectives of the company

Assist in programming design and format/design of shows

Consistently mentor and train junior staff

Work closely with anchors

Ensure that CNBC Africa style guide is implemented and style requirements are maintained.

Oversee specific daily live news shows

In conjunction with the Senior Team, ensure that the broadcasts are of the highest possible standard, and that the news being broadcast is of the highest standard of integrity and accuracy

Ensure the highest journalistic standards are adhered to and make sure that CNBC Africa’s coverage of business news and events is second to none

Identify learning and development needs of the team

Set targets and standards of performance for the team members

Manage the performance of individual members of the team

Be familiar with the latest events and business news in the region and the world

Carry out any other tasks as deemed necessary from time to time by management.

Minimum requirements:

B.Com degree or finance related equivalent

Journalism experience will be an advantage

5 years experience in finance or financial journalism recommended

Excellent organizational skills

Excellent command of the English language

Excellent writing skills

Teamwork

Leadership ability
