The role of a Features' Producer is to:
Produce a number of weekly taped discussion programmes.
Plan, set up, shoot, direct and script inserts/packages on a weekly basis
Plan, set up, shoot, direct and script longer format features/documentaries as and when required by the Senior Producer: Features, or the Head of Programming
Work closely with cameramen, video editors and other team members to produce the inserts/programmes from conceptualisation to transmission.
Establish ownership of the programmes assigned to him/her
Draw up and keep current a line-up for each programme he/she is responsible for
Ensure that the programmes comply with CNBC Africa’s editorial and broadcast standards and policies.
Coordinate with the Senior Producer for stories from bureaus, pertaining to the programmes.
Line-produce the programmes in the Gallery working with the Director to ensure the best quality of broadcast.
Make sound editorial judgment
calls in the Gallery.
Contribute to weekly editorial meetings and planning.
Carry out any other work as deemed necessary from time to time by the Head of Programming.
The Producer may be called upon to do voice-overs for inserts, and/or to do in-field on-camera presentation
Minimum Requirements:
A BA degree in Journalism or Communications or equivalent
Minimum 3 years experience in television is a strong recommendation
An interest in business and investment issues
Strong writing skills
Excellent command of the English language
Good on-camera presence and good voice-over skills will be an advantage
Willingness to work hard and sometimes irregular hours
Positive, can-do attitude
