To ensure that software applications are developed and adapted to match the operational, engineering and management requirements of CNBC Africa. Also to maintain and ensure effective functioning of all network broadcast equipment and systems from the time of acquiring it into CNBC Africa to ensure technical excellence in transmission.
The principal responsibilities of the Broadcast Engineer are to:
Design, install, upgrade and administer effective software solutions for enhancing efficiency of workflow.
Respond in a timely manner for fixing the malfunctions and anomalies of systems and applications.
Plan, design and implement specific software tools and applications to support the organization’s requirements.
Maintain related documentation.
Monitor the performance of software and enhance as required.
Participate in security, backup and crash recovery of application systems.
Be familiar with developments in software
applications related to the organization’s business requirements.
Support the Head of Broadcasting and Technical Manager in ensuring that the channel is on air without interruption at all times.
Respond in a timely and efficient manner to all technical issues and problems that arise.
Perform routine and critical maintenance tasks in an efficient and timely manner as directed by the Head of Broadcasting and Technical Manager.
Ensure technical competence and updating of all operational staff to perform their roles.
Update technical skills and knowledge on an ongoing basis.
Carry out any other work as deemed necessary from time to time by the Head of Broadcasting or his/her senior.
Qualifications & experience
Higher Technical Diploma or S4 Technical Degree
3-5 Years experience in technical maintenance
A+ Computer Qualification
N+ Networking Essentials
Unique requirements
Ability to
accurately assess situations and select the most appropriate action
Ability to “think on your feet”
Ability to handle pressure
Understanding of broadcast industry
