The board of directors of the JSE said Borkum will step down as independent non-executive director and chairman of the JSE at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held in 2014.

Humphrey was appointed to the board in 2000 as deputy chairman and appointed as chairman of the JSE in 2002. He has served the JSE in a number of capacities with distinction for many decades.

“Humphrey’s role in the evolution of the JSE business over the decades in our industry has been immense. We will miss his quiet wisdom and counsel as we chart the next stage of our journey,” said Nicky Newton-King, Chief Executive Officer of the JSE.

The board has appointed former CEO of ArcelorMittal SA, Nonkululeko Nyembezi-Heita as the new independent non-executive chairman of the JSE.

“The board is delighted to announce that Ms Nonkululeko Nyembezi-Heita, who joined the board in June 2009 as an independent non-executive director will succeed Humphrey as independent non-executive chairman, with effect from the day after the 2014 AGM."
