Bungane, who recently stepped down as chief executive of Barclays Africa Regional Management and head of strategy, is expected to bring significant financial services experience to Pembani.

Pembani, a South African investment holding company with a focus in mining, energy and resources, holds investments in companies such as Engen, BHP Billiton Energy Coal South Africa, Exxaro and AfriSam.
The company’s chairman, Phuthuma Nhleko, said, “I am very pleased to welcome Kennedy to Pembani.”
