This means that South Africans should expect a tariff increase of eight per cent plus an additional hike depending on Eskom’s decision.

This is according to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) who has said that it has authorised Eskom to recover an additional 7.8 billion rand in revenue a year from consumers.
The adjustment will be implemented as of April 2015. However, it is less than what Eskom had initially asked for as tighter cost controls are still being pushed by NERSA.
