“Our new app uses location-based positioning linked to MTN’s world-class network to provide a comprehensive and highly practical directory service, aimed at simplifying the task of finding product and service vendors located at any vicinity,” Kanagaratnam Lambotharan, MTN South Africa chief enterprise business officer, said in a statement.
“Any concern, such as estate agencies, banks, retailers, home-based hair salons and even businesses on the move like mobile Shisa Nyama outlets, once listed on the directory, can be located through this app at a touch of a button.”

The aim of the product is to exchange information between business and customer more easily and freely, and businesses can list basic information such as physical address, promotions and specials and contact details. The free mobile app also allows the user to locate such information from wherever they are in the world.

Last year MTN also partnered with Hello Doctor, an innovative healthcare solutions organisation, to provide a “doctor in your pocket” mobile app, where users can access healthcare information. The Business Directory Services app is therefore one of many apps to come.
“We are delighted to introduce an innovative way for our informal and formal businesses to be discovered by customers and potential clients on mobile platforms,” Lambotharan added.
The app is available from BlackBerry World, the iTunes App Store, Google Play and the Android App Store.
