Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has made indications suggesting he could announce his long awaited cabinet.
According to media reports, the former Managing Director of Heineken’s Nigeria unit of Nigerian Breweries, and former presidential candidate, Professor Pat Utomi, are among the ministerial nominees that have been screened by the Department of State Service.
The former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; and a Lagos-lawyer, Femi Falana are reported to have been screened for possible ministerial nomination.
Opeyemi Agbaje, Chief Executive Officer of RTC Advisory said in terms of the economic portfolio, the speculated names inspired hope.
“These are still speculations but with the qualifications we are seeing there is some reason to be excited especially if these names are true and candidates end up in cabinet,” said Agbaje.
“We needed to have these names before the president was sworn, not after and certainly not after 110 days,” he added
He said that there was need to act with speed and have sound policy in place as the outlook of the country was not positive.
“If you look at the economic indices such as capital market performance, GDP, inflation, foreign direct investment, they are all negative,” he added.
