Ashlea Harvey joined CNBC Africa in April 2011.

Harvey is the reporter at the Cape Town bureau. She joined CNBC Africa soon after returning to her home country after spending 7 years in the USA. Evans has reported from the World Economic Forum, guest hosted On the Couch, and regularly covers stories in the field and from parliament.

Harvey started her career in the United States, where she worked on Capitol Hill as a political consultant, as well as developing her broadcasting career at Al Jazeera English in Washington, DC. Harvey has had the privilege of interviewing a range of renowned international figures, such as General Alexander Haig, Doris Kearns Goodwin, and David Gergen. She is proud to have won the Associated Press Broadcasting Scholarship in 2006, as well as graduating Summa Cum Laude from a Master of Science in Communication.
