Wed, 25 Apr 2007

CNBC Africa, the first international business and financial news channel in sub-Saharan Africa launches on 1 June, 2007 at 18h00. More than 1.5 million households will immediately have access to this dynamic new channel on DStv channel 54.

CNBC Africa will deliver for the first time, real-time African business news, insightful information and analysis about African business and Africa’s financial markets. As part of the globally recognised and respected CNBC brand family, CNBC Africa will also deliver regular updates from CNBC Europe, the US, Asia, the Middle East, Pakistan and India.

Providing a unique global perspective from an African platform, CNBC Africa will broadcast from its main studios in Johannesburg, with live feeds from bureaus in Lagos, Abuja, Nairobi, Cape Town and London.

Viewership trends worldwide point to a shift away from general news viewing towards a higher consumption of business news. CNBC Africa will bring to screens an unmatched profile of prominent Africans, from CEOs and corporate decision makers to senior government officials, business owners and entrepreneurs. CNBC Africa will be essential viewing for the increasing number of high net-worth individuals on the continent with an insatiable appetite for relevant business programming and financial information.

If your market is affluent and influential, you can’t afford not to be on CNBC Africa.

CNBC Africa has a dedicated in-house sales team in Johannesburg and in other bureaus across the continent to coordinate all advertising bookings and channel sponsorships. All advertising sales are managed exclusively through this experienced team, headed by Susie White.

“The television industry is a dynamic and competitive environment and I’m looking forward to launching this exciting business channel,” says COO, Trevor Ormerod. “We will be able to offer African advertisers exceptionally innovative sponsorship and sales packages to reach the movers and the shakers of African business, with a distinctly global feel.”
