Talia Sanhewe is a multi-faceted journalist with a passion for broadcasting. She is a skilled communicator with a warm, personal yet professional approach to her work. Her education includes an undergraduate degree in Film & Media from the University of Cape Town and a scholarship to the University of California’s Los Angeles (UCLA) prestigious School of Film & Television where she completed a semester studying broadcast media.
Her passion for broadcasting started on campus radio where she began reading the news. She was then promoted to host her own award-winning daytime radio talk show. The success of the Red Pepper Show opened a door into the world of publishing. A keen feature writer, Talia gained publishing experience through O, The Oprah Magazine SA & The Deal Magazine.
In 2003/4 she was offered opportunities to complete two work experience internships with the BBC World Service and CNN International, both in London. These broadcasting exchanges exposed Talia to the addictive pace and energy of global news. Talia Sanhewe’s exposure to the international platforms of global media cemented her desire to work as a broadcaster for an international network.
After returning to South Africa, Talia spent 2 years with the SABC (SAfm Radio) – where she co-produced and presented a daily radio program. Her television experience includes work for Top Billing and MTV where she participated in a global – real-time talk show. In April 2007, Talia Sanhewe joined CNBC Africa as their Cape Town reporter, compiling stories on the region and anchoring the weekend program, Eye on the Western Cape.
