Africa seeks to increase spend on peace keeping

African Union’s member states hope to finance at least 25 per cent of peace activities by the year 2020. The funds will be raised through a 0.2 per cent levy on eligible imports, a commitment that 23 countries are already implementing. CNBC Africa’s Charles Gitonga spoke to John Dramani Mahama, former president of Ghana, and began by asking if AU members are embracing the ownership and self-reliance agenda.
