RMB’s monetary policy outlook on Kenya

In its latest meeting earlier this month, the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Kenya defied market expectations by cutting the policy rate by 50 basis points. This was the first time the Committee changed the rate from 10 percent since September 2016 when Kenya enforced a law to cap commercial interest rates.
