Women scientists given platform to provide solutions to Africa’s battle with HIV/AIDS

Africa continues being among the most infected continents with a soaring numbers of HIV positive people. On the eve of World Aids Day we look at some progress in addressing these continuing challenges with projects scientists embark on. The 9th edition of the L’Oreal-UNESCO For Women In Science programme gives us a springbok for our conversation. A young scientist from Stellenbosch in Cape Town is among this year’s fellows for her work looking at relationship between immune system and the virus in HIV positive children. Shalena Naidoo joins CNBC Africa to share in her planned research and Alexandra Palt, Executive Vice President L’Oreal Foundation.
