Everyday more than 2 billion people use Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or Messenger. That’s more than a quarter of the world’s population. And despite a rising number of privacy scandals and public backlash — Facebook is still growing. Since the apps are free to use, Facebook sells advertising to make money. Facebook could launch a dedicated news tab in partnership with “high-quality” publishers, if CEO Mark Zuckerberg carries out his latest vision for news content on the platform.

The dedicated news tab sounds similar to Facebook’s Watch tab, which hosts original programming and longer-form videos — and shares some of the advertising revenue with publishers.
