Kenya, Germany seek to strengthen business ties
Germany is Kenya's third-largest export market in Europe, accounting for 8 per cent of all Kenyan exports. However, horticultural products such as cut flowers, processed fruits and nuts have traditionally dominated Kenya's trade opportunities with Germany. As at the close of 2014, trade deficit between the two countries stood at 399 million dollars in favour of Germany. Recently, German government announced that it would spend 276.5 million dollars in development cooperation with Kenya, some of which will be spent in developing water sources in the East African nation. Joining CNBC Africa to discuss how the two countries can broaden business opportunities is Maren Diale-Schellschmidt, Country Director of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Kenya.
