Rwandan Frank Nsonga on how he battled COVID-19 and won

In a recent interview with CNBC Africa, one of the recovered patients from COVID-19 in Rwanda, Frank Songa, shared his experience and journey of battling and eventually defeating the virus. According to the Ministry of Health in Rwanda, 49 out of the 134 confirmed cases have fully recovered from the virus so far. Frank recounted how his ordeal began with a brief fever on a Thursday, followed by a test on Saturday after traveling, which confirmed that he was COVID-19 positive. In a swift turn of events, an ambulance arrived at his doorstep within hours to transport him to the treatment center. Despite the daunting situation, Frank remained composed and focused on following the guidelines and recommendations provided by health officials. Throughout his time at the center, he experienced a loss of sense of smell and taste, which was a prominent symptom for him. Remarkably, he did not require any specific treatment as his vitals remained stable. Post-recovery, Frank discussed the mixed reactions and stigma he encountered from people, emphasizing the importance of understanding and support during such challenging times.
