Kenya raises charges on water companies tenfold in World Bank deal
In Kenya, water bills are set to increase sharply after the government raised the regulatory charges on water companies tenfold to cover ballooning operation and maintenance costs. The new regulations are part of the reforms recommended to the government by the World Bank after it approved a Ksh80 billion loan to help Kenya respond to the Covid-19 pandemic and address its debt vulnerabilities.
