ONE Campaign: Africa needs to repay $54bn in debt next year
African countries will need to repay as much as $54 billion in debt repayment in 2022 and will need $285 billion by 2025 to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s according to the International Monetary Fund and ONE Africa COVID-19 Tracker. How much impact will the re-allocation of the IMF Special Drawing Rights by advanced economies help in mitigating the debt crisis facing Africa, which got about $33 billion in Special Drawing Rights? Edwin Ikhuoria, Executive Director for Africa at ONE Campaign, joins CNBC Africa for more.
