South Africa's gross spending grows slightly in Q3

South Africa’s real gross domestic expenditure grew by 0.5 percent in the third quarter of 2016 after expanding by a revised 3.7 percent in the second quarter, the statistics agency said on Tuesday.

Household expenditure increased by 2.6 percent in the third quarter of the year after increasing by 1.4 percent in the previous quarter.

Government expenditure was up, increasing by 2.1 percent in the quarter compared to a 1.4 percent increase in the second three months of the year. Gross fixed capital formation contracted by 1 percent against a decrease of 6.8 percent previously.
