A private security company has been called in at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) as student protests over fees erupted on Monday.
The students say they are protesting over scholars who are being punished by the university for not paying their registration fees.
Following protests at the beginning of the year, WITS gave its students until the 31st March to pay for their registration fees.
Lecturers were disrupted for a short while but later resumed to normal. The protestors say they will continue with their protests.
