Accused Paralympian Oscar Pistorius has been acquitted of premeditated murder and murder.

This is after the state failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that he shot Reeva Steenkamp with the intention to kill.

However, Judge Thokozile Masipa took a swipe at Pistorius saying he was an evasive and unreliable witness.

After citing a series of previous case laws referring to culpable homicide, Judge Masipa indicated that she would rule on the possibility of the lesser charge.

The court has adjourned, the final verdict expected this afternoon.

Meanwhile, ANC Women’s League has been protesting outside the court and are devastated with events unfolding in the courtroom.

Pistorius spent part of the proceedings in tears as events of Valentines Day 2013 were being recounted by Masipa.
