The first ever electric cars have hit Rwanda’s roads as German carmaker Volkswagen launched its pilot electric mobility project in Africa. This according to officials demonstrates the country’s commitment to adopt and drive technological advances. CNBC Africa’s Steven Muvunyi reports.
The German automaker said in January that it initially plans to build up to 5,000 cars per year, beginning with the Polo and Passat models.
The arrest and court appearance come as VW nears a $3 billion plus - and potentially $4 billion - settlement.
