Sudan’s Al Bashir steps down, army to announce transition
One of the most controversial presidents in Africa – who narrowly escaped arrest in South Africa – has stepped down. Omar Al Bashir who swept to the presidency of Sudan at the head of a military coup in 1989, has been shown the door by the sons of his soldiers. A military council will now plot the way forward for the oil rich nation. CNBC Africa’s Chris Bishop looks into the background of the days of Al Bashir.
