The retail price of petrol and the wholesale price of diesel in South Africa will rise from May 3, the energy department said on Friday.

The price of 95 octane petrol will climb 3.7 percent to 13.79 rand ($1.03) per litre in the commercial hub of Gauteng province, while diesel will rise 2.6 percent to 11.80 rand/litre, the department said in a statement.
