IMF’s Gasparon on Africa’s fiscal policy outlook in 2021

Covid-19 has given rise to an unprecedented response in fiscal policy. In the last twelve months, countries have announced $16 trillion in fiscal actions. However, those measures were expensive and contributed to historically high debt levels. With countries recovering at different speeds, how can everyone be given a fair shot at recovery?
