SA’s unemployment rises to 13-year high
The quarterly labour force statistics for the first quarter of 2021 are out and the unemployment rate has recorded a slight increase of 0.1 percentage point bringing the overall rate to 32.6 per cent. This is the highest it’s been in 13 years unemployment according to the expanded definition increased by 0.6 of a percentage point in quarter 1 to 43.2 per cent.
