Counting the cost of insecurity to Somalia's economy
According to the 2020 World Bank report, the security sector accounts for one-third ($107 million) of the expenditure of Somalia’s federal government. Recently, the UN Security Council endorsed an extension of sanctions on Somalia for another year, in spite of calls by Mogadishu to take charge of its own security reform.
