<p>The #ENDSARS protest in Nigeria comes at a time when the country still has restrictions around mass gathering in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19. Joining CNBC Africa’s Kenneth Igbomor to discuss the threat this protest poses to Nigeria’s COVID-19 fight is Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director-General of the Nigeria Centre of Disease Control.</p>

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says the multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has been activated at level three which is the highest level of response to public health emergencies. The NCDC also notes that contacts of the index case have been identified with 19 of them in Lagos and 39 in Ogun state. The Director General of the NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu joins CNBC Africa for an update on the efforts to contain the coronavirus in Nigeria.</p>

<p>After successfully containing a meningitis outbreak in the Northern part of the country earlier this year which claimed 1,166 people, Nigeria&#8217;s Centre for Disease Control is once again battling to contain a Lassa fever and Cholera outbreak.</p>
