<p>Metal workers union, Numsa has returned to the bargaining table with Eskom executives, as they continue with they bid for a wage increase. They are demanding, among other things, a 15 per cent wage increase, a one-year wage agreement and an end to salary disparities. They have also rubbished claims by Eskom on how much the average worker earns. Numsa Spokesperson, Phakamile Hlubi- Majola joins CNBC Africa for more.</p>

<p>With the surging profits we have seen in the mining sector, the National Union of Mineworkers has demanded that those earnings trickle into the pockets of mine workers. The trade union has called for a salary increase of at least 15 per cent for three years, among other benefits. <p>Major South African Gold producers, AngloGold Ashanti and Sibanye-Stillwater, are resuming talks with unions today. Minerals Council South Africa and the National Union of Mineworkers are confident about reaching “an amicable agreement”. <p>South Africa’s embattled power utility, Eskom, released its annual results this morning at its headquarters in Johannesburg. With a debt that’s rocketed by nearly 50 per cent in four years, the company is set in cleaning up the power utility, with 10 executives, who have been implicated in corruption, having left the company already. CNBC Africa’s Aviwe Mtila filed this report.</p>
