Turkish foreign minister says he is saddened by killing of Hamas chief
ANKARA, July 31 (Reuters) – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Wednesday he was “deeply saddened” to hear that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh had been “martyred”, adding that he had become a symbol of Palestinian resistance.
“He had devoted his life to the Palestinian cause, and to bringing peace and tranquility to Palestine,” Fidan said on social media platform X, sharing a photograph of himself and Haniyeh. (Reporting by Tuvan Gumrukcu Editing by Daren Butler and Peter Graff)
