HAMBURG/PARIS, Oct 8 (Reuters) – The lowest price offered in the international tender from Tunisia’s state grains agency on Tuesday to purchase around 125,000 metric tons of animal feed barley was believed to be $231.60 a tonne c&f for optional-origin supplies, according to initial assessments from European traders.

The offer was believed to have been submitted by trading house Dreyfus for 25,000 tons.

No purchase has yet been reported and offers are still being considered, they said. The agency does not always purchase the lowest offer if other conditions connected with the price are seen as unattractive.

Reports reflect assessments from traders and further estimates of prices and volumes are still possible later.

The grain can be sourced from optional origins and is sought in five consignments of 25,000 tons for shipment between Oct. 25 and Dec. 15 depending on origin selected.

Finance for the tender is being provided by the World Bank, one of the organisations helping Tunisia to contend with its current financial difficulties. (Reporting by Michael Hogan and Gus Trompiz)
