China bans imports of ruminant animals from Libya due to bluetongue disease
BEIJING, Nov 25 (Reuters) – China has banned the direct and indirect import of ruminants and related products from Libya due to an outbreak of bluetongue disease, the General Administration of Customs said on its website on Monday.
The move follows an Nov. 6 report from Libya to the World Organization for Animal Health after cases had been found in Tripoli and Al Jifarah provinces, customs said in an announcement dated Nov. 21. (Reporting by Joe Cash; Editing by Tom Hogue)
