Eskom’s board this morning, gave effect to the Minister of Public Enterprises Lynne Brown’s directive to rescind the power utility’s decision to re-instate Brian Molefe as Group Chief Executive (GCE) of Eskom.

In a statement it said:
“In giving effect to and on the basis of the Minister’s directive contained in the letter dated 31 May 2017, it was resolved that the resolution of the Board of Directors taken on 2 May 2017 is rescinded. Furthermore, that the reinstatement agreement concluded between Mr. Molefe and Eskom on 11 May 2017 be rescinded.

“In consequence, Mr. Molefe is no longer GCE of Eskom and will no longer serve as a director on the Board of Eskom”.

Minister of Public Enterprises spokesperson Colin Cruywagen told CNBC Africa that Brown is applying her mind to who will be the next CEO of Eskom after being supplied with two names.
