Pravin Gordhan loses court case on Gupta banks case
The North Gauteng high court today dismissed former finance minister Pravin Gordhan's case where he was seeking declaratory court order that he cannot get intervene in the matter between the country's major banks and the Gupta family. Judge Aubrey Ledwaba read out the judgement saying it is not appropriate for a member of the National Executive to draw the judiciary into the exercise of his executive functions as evidenced in this application. Standard Bank which was also seeking an extended relief, asking the court to declare that ministers and politicians cannot put pressure on the bank to do business with the Gupta companies, was also dismissed.
