First ever Intra-African Trade Fair launched

In a bid to bolster intra-African trade and enhance investment opportunities, the continent is gearing up for its inaugural Intra-African Trade Fair, IATF 2018, slated to take place in Cairo from 11 to 17 December 2018. This historic event, brought to fruition by the African Export-Import Bank, Afrik Sim Bank, in collaboration with the African Union and hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt, aims to bring together buyers and sellers from across the continent for a week of networking, matchmaking, and business transactions. With various financial institutions offering trade finance valued at over 25 billion US dollars, the IATF is set to attract more than 70,000 visitors, comprising buyers and sellers from all African countries as well as other non-African nations. The trade fair will not only serve as a meeting ground for industry players but will also see the participation of African heads of state, trade and industry ministers, finance ministers, and private sector leaders. The IATF represents a significant milestone in the continent's efforts to promote intra-African trade, providing a gateway to a single market of over 1 billion people. With the establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area earlier in March, the trade fair offers a golden opportunity for investors worldwide to explore and tap into the vast trade and investment potential that Africa has to offer.
