Rwandans up for prestigious US$185,000 Innovation Prize

Rwanda has been making waves in the innovation and technology sector, with Henry Nyakarundi, the Founder of African Renewable Energy Distributor, being nominated for the prestigious US$185,000 Innovation Prize for Africa. Nyakarundi's innovative concept aims to provide a one-stop shop platform for low-income people to access digital services, phone charging, and connectivity, all on one platform. This unique idea has garnered attention and recognition in the tech community for its practicality and impact on underserved communities. The African Innovation Foundation recently announced the nominees for this year's Innovation Prize for Africa, showcasing a diverse range of innovations from across the continent. Raising capital for a hardware technology venture has proven to be a significant hurdle, with investors often hesitant to invest before the technology is fully operational. Nyakarundi's perseverance and dedication to his vision have seen him through a decade-long journey to bring his innovative idea to fruition.
