Hamad Buamim on what to expect from the Dubai Expo 2020

Dubai Expo 2020, postponed from last year due to the global pandemic, is set to open tonight under the theme 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.' The highly anticipated event will serve as a beacon of hope and opportunity for the global business community after facing unprecedented challenges over the past 18 months. CNBC Africa recently spoke to Hamad Buamim, President of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to shed light on the main goals and expectations of what is being hailed as the world's largest expo. Buamim expressed his enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing the importance of attracting businesses and visitors to Dubai during this pivotal period. With over 192 countries participating in the expo, attendees will have the chance to network and collaborate with a diverse range of international partners. One of the key highlights of the expo will be the Global Business Forum scheduled for the 13th and 14th of October. This forum presents a unique opportunity for participants to engage with representatives from more than 100 countries, including heads of states, ministers, and prominent business figures. Buamim revealed that the forum has already received confirmation from two heads of states, a vice president, and 30 ministers, with over 1200 individuals from various regions, notably Africa, already confirming their participation. The aim of this forum is to catalyze economic recovery and foster business growth, particularly in regions that have been severely impacted by the pandemic, such as Africa.
